OUR TEAM

Founder & Lead Consultant

Alia Azimi is the Founder and Lead Consultant of For Good Consultants, where she leads the firm’s strategic and operational direction. With over 8 years of experience spanning the non-profit, public and private sectors, Alia has worked across Canada, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia on projects advancing equity, governance, socioeconomic and social impact.

Before moving to Canada, she advised the Governments of Rwanda and Nigeria on policy reform and supported strategy initiatives in Somalia, Tanzania, and Saudi Arabia. These global experiences, combined with her lived experience as a Racialized newcomer, shape her inclusive and systems-oriented approach to consulting.

Alia is deeply passionate about driving progress and sustainability for charities and non-profits. As the founding Executive Director of Queer Calgary, Alia led the organization’s transition from a grassroots initiative to a registered non-profit serving over 1,000 individuals annually—securing more than $180,000 in grant funding within 18 months. She also serves on the Board of the Calgary Queer Arts Society and United Way’s Grassroots Empowerment Moh’kinstsis Committee, advancing opportunities for equity-deserving communities.

Alia holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Malaya.

Land Acknowledgement

In the spirit of respect, truth, and reciprocity: For Good Consultants acknowledge that we live and grow on land adjacent to where the Bow and Elbow Rivers meet within Treaty 7 land. This area has been known by many names by people of many cultures such as Moh’kinsstis (Blackfoot), Wincheesh-pah (Nakoda), Otos-kwunee (Cree) and Kootsisáw (Tsuu’tina) long before settlers named this place Calgary. This territory is home to the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Stoney Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta Districts 5 and 6. In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Indigenous people of all of Turtle Island and make a commitment to continue decolonization in our work and to promote equity and dignity for all people.
